VIDEO | Jackson Police launch new program to focus on water safety | By Jen Gerke

April 1, 2021 – Jackson, WI – Many people come to Jackson to enjoy warm weather activities such as swimming, boating, and fishing; however, a lot of them are unfamiliar with boat safety rules.

Starting this spring, Jackson Police Sgt. Justin Brinks will begin patrolling Hasmer Lake and some areas of Cedar Creek. He will be conducting random boat inspections to make sure boats are legal and safe to be on the water. He will also be enforcing the SNW (Slow No Wake) hours on Hasmer Lake.

The new boat patrol is being funded through a Hook, Line, and Sinker grant.

“We look forward to ushering in a new era of safety and recreation at Hasmer Lake. The Jackson area is known for being a safe community and thanks to this initiative, it’s about to become even safer,” Sgt. Brinks stated.

He also said he’s looking forward to doing some “undercover fishing.”
