The International Skating Union (ISU) has selected the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin as the location for Long Track Speed Skating World Cup #4, to be held on Jan. 31- Feb. 2, 2025. Top speed skaters from across the world will compete in the 500m, 1000m, 1500m, 3000m (women) and 5000m (men), as well as the Mass Start, Team Pursuit and Team Sprint.

Ted Morris, US Speedskating Executive Director said, “Wisconsin has a powerful speed skating legacy with 34 Olympic medals won by athletes from Wisconsin. Add the incredible success of Wisconsin’s own Jordan Stolz, and now is the perfect time to bring a Speed Skating World Cup back to Milwaukee.”

The Pettit National Ice Center has been a proud Official U.S. Olympic Training Site for speed skating in the country since it opened in 1992. The venue was the site of the 2018 & 2022 U.S. Olympic Speed Skating Trials, and several World Cup qualifying events. The center is also a significant community asset, hosting more than 425,000 visitors annually for ice skating, figure skating, hockey, and other sport activities.

The Pettit National Ice Center is thrilled to be hosting ISU World Cup #4 for the 2024/2025 season. It has been nearly 20 years since the last World Cup was held in Milwaukee. We’re excited for the opportunity to host the World’s best speedskaters just one year from the start of the 2026 Winter Olympics.,” said Paul Golomski, Pettit National Ice Center General Manager.

Included in the athletes competing will be Jordan Stolz, Milwaukee native, current World Record holder in the 1000m and 6x World Champion. At only 18, he became the first male to ever win 3 Golds in the 500m, 1000m and 1500m at a World Championships and then defied the odds to win all three again this past season. World Cup #4 will be a unique opportunity for community members to cheer on all of Team USA on home ice.

The allocation was made official at the ISU Congress in June 2024. Each year, various countries host six Speed Skating World Cups. The Pettit National Ice Center and the Olympic Oval are currently the only two indoor venues in the U.S. qualified to host an ISU sanctioned international Long Track event.
