Cedarburg, WI – As the Green Bay Packers have wrapped up the NFC’s top playoff spot the team at 5 Corners Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and 5 Corners Isuzu Truck & Auto harken back to the Ice Bowl.
A game played at Lambeau Field in 1967 in frigid conditions.
Roman Weninger from 5 Corners Dodge said his parents went to the game. “I was 7 years old at the time and my mom and dad and their friends from high school went to the game,” he said. “My parents milked the cows in the morning and then drove up to Green Bay. It was so cold my mom and her friend went into the bathroom at Lambeau several times to warm up.”
Weninger said the final play with quarterback Bart Starr tucking the ball in and running for a touchdown was welcomed by everyone, including coach Vince Lombardi.
“Bart goes to the centerline and dodged to the right and the rest is history,” said Weninger.
Ken Miller with 5 Corners Isuzu Truck and Auto was watching the game with his wife. “It was a great play at the end we were at my relatives house and after the Packers won my wife took a magic marker and ran outside and wrote the score in the window right out front,” he said. “Hopefully we’ll have another run this year and get to the Super Bowl.”

The mention of friends of Roman Weninger’s parents who went to the “Ice Bowl” were Richard and Margie Klumb. We picked up Jack and Kate Weninger at their farm as Roman said after morning chores and the 4 of us drove to Green Bay for the game. Before leaving the car, we put all the clothes we could layer on us. Yes it was cold, The game announcer said -33 degrees wind chill. Jack’s big toe got so cold, that later his toe nail came off. The thrill of the game that warmed our bodies and heart was the Bart Starr sneak for the game wining touchdown, and then we got the hell out of there.
