I41 closed Monday morning following semi rollover in Town of Wayne

    

May 14, 2018 – Town of Wayne, WI – On May 13, 2018 at approximately 10:55 p.m. the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a semi-tractor trailer that rolled over in the median of I41 south of STH 28 in the Town of Wayne.

Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies as well as the Kohlsville and Kewaskum Fire Departments were dispatched.

The driver of the semi was transported to the hospital by Kewaskum Rescue where he was treated for minor injuries and released. The investigation revealed that the driver swerved to avoid striking a deer and lost control of the semi-tractor trailer which then rolled onto its side in the median.

The trailer was loaded with 39,000 pounds of sausage. Crews have been working for the past 4 hours to off load the sausage so the truck can be up righted. One lane remained open overnight on I41 during cleanup.

An entire freeway closure will occur at approximately 5:15 a.m. so the truck can be removed. The detour for I41 southbound will be to exit on STH 28 and go east to Midland Rd and then south to CTH D and then back onto I41 southbound.  Please utilize alternative routes.
