UPDATE | Pedestrian struck by vehicle about 2 weeks ago on Hwy 33 has died

August 21, 2024 – West Bend, WI – West Bend police have confirmed the 71-year-old West Bend, WI, man who was struck by a vehicle on August 9, 2024, has now died from injuries suffered in that accident.

According to Lt. Brian McAndrews the “incident remains under investigation.”

A reconstruction of the crash occurred after the accident, according to McAndrews, due to the serious injury suffered by the pedestrian.

“Those reports take time for the reconstruction experts to put together,” he said.

The vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic accident occurred on Washington Street at Silverbrook Drive. Police said the operator of the involved vehicle remained on scene.

August 9, 2024 – West Bend, Wi – UPDATE – An update on a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident Friday morning in West Bend, WI.  According to police the 45-year-old West Bend male operator of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.  The 71-year-old West Bend male pedestrian remains hospitalized.
Police also confirmed this is not the ‘West Bend walker.’
The investigation is still underway, and more information will be posted when details available.
One person was injured in a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident Friday morning August 9, 2024, at Highway 33 and Silverbrook Drive in West Bend, WI. Police said the driver of the vehicle remained the scene.  The adult pedestrian was taken to St. Joes and then airlifted to Froedtert in Milwaukee.

The West Bend Police Department is investigating a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic accident that occurred on Highway 33 at Silverbrook Drive. There will be road closures and traffic restrictions in the area for the next few hours as the investigation occurs. The operator of the involved vehicle remained on scene and the pedestrian has been transported to the hospital for medical care.

Please avoid the area and use alternate routes to help reduce traffic congestion.
