Hartford, WI – Students from Hartford Union High School (HUHS) displayed the airplane they built as part of the Kettle Moraine Youth Aviation Club (KMYA) at HUHS this week.
The Kettle Moraine Youth Aviation Club began in the fall of 2020 with 18 students. Students worked with mentors to build an RV-12 airplane beginning at HUHS and eventually moving to the Hartford airport.
Upon FAA inspection, the first flight is planned for Memorial Day weekend. Students who participated in the build will be able to take rides in the RV-12 over the summer, but it will not be used as a trainer.
An additional aircraft, a Piper Cub, was donated to the KMYA organization to be the flight trainer for the students.

In the fall, the RV-12 will go up for sale and the proceeds will be used to purchase a new kit to be built over the next two school years.
The plane was on display at HUHS on May 19, 2022.
