Horicon man, 18, arrested after fleeing authorities in Dodge Co. and crashing | By Dodge Co. Sheriff

February 19, 2025 – Dodge Co., Wi – At 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an erratic driver in a 2006 Ford Focus in the City of Horicon and on State Highway 33. The complainant reported the vehicle was operated on the front lawn of a residence in Horicon and the driver was driving into oncoming traffic multiple times on State Highway 33 between Horicon and Beaver Dam.

A sheriff’s office deputy located the vehicle on Highway 33 just outside of the City of Beaver Dam and attempted to stop the car to investigate. The driver immediately accelerated, allegedly fleeing from the deputy.

The driver, later identified as Devon Hambly, 18, of Horicon, lost control during the pursuit and crashed into a utility power box, several signs, and then several parked cars in the parking lot of McDonald’s, 840 Park Avenue, in the City of Beaver Dam.

Hambly was removed from the vehicle by sheriff’s office deputies, Beaver Dam Police, and Beaver Dam Fire/EMS. The subject continued to be resistive and was immediately taken into custody.

As the sheriff’s office was involved in the pursuit and the Beaver Dam Police Department assisted with the pursuit, the Wisconsin State Patrol was contacted to investigate the crash.

The only injuries in this incident were non-life-threatening injuries suffered by Hambly.

Hambly was transported to Marshfield Medical Center – Beaver Dam for treatment of those injuries. Hambly will be booked into the jail on charges of eluding an officer and resisting/obstructing an Officer.

He was also arrested for operating while under the influence (OWI) and operating without a valid driver’s license. Additionally, the Horicon Police Department will be requesting charges for operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent. Of course, as always, persons are innocent until proven guilty in court.

In addition to the agencies mentioned in this release, the Dodge County Emergency Response Team and the Beaver Dam Department of Public Works assisted at the scene.
