Washington County, WI – On Saturday, April 22, 2023, 75-year-old Army veteran Jim Nawrocki of Hubertus, WI, joined other vets on the Stars & Stripes Honor Flight to Washington D.C. along with his son, Kevin.
Nawrocki was drafted in March of 1968 and served in Vietnam for two years in Cu Chi with the 25th Division as an infantryman. He attained the rank of Specialist 4th Class by the time of discharge and was awarded the Bronze Star.

Nawrocki will have been married to his wife, Kathy, for 50 years in May 2023. Together they have three boys, Timmy, Kevin, and Danny; and they have four grandchildren Logan, Maddie, Keegan, and “Fireball” Kinley.
After his time in service, Nawrocki worked for Outboard Marine for 30 years as a manufacturing engineer. He then started his own metal finishing company, Butler Metal Finishing, located in Butler, WI, which is in operation today. “I still do a lot of manual work,” said Nawrocki, “I’m not just a pencil guy.”

Kevin Nawrocki, Jim’s son from Wauwatosa, WI was his chaperone for the Honor Flight.
Nawrocki’s father was in the Army during World War II and stationed in England making the World War II Memorial of personal interest. “I saw the wall years ago,” said Nawrocki, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to do this. I’m in good shape and good health, so I’m ready.”
Stars and Stripes Honor Flight is the Milwaukee area hub of the Honor Flight Network. Founded in 2008, Stars and Stripes Honor Flight has flown more than 7,600 WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam War veterans from southeastern Wisconsin on a one-day, all-expense-paid trip to Washington D.C.
