June 21, 2024 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – On June 21 at 1:48 a.m. a Fond du Lac County Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle for a speed violation on STH 23 near CTH W in the township of Forest, Fond du Lac County.
As the deputy attempted to catch up to the vehicle , the suspect vehicle increased its speed to 100 miles per hour. The deputy did have his emergency lights and siren activated.
The vehicle did take an exit in an attempt to evade the deputy, and then reentered the highway still traveling westbound on STH 23.
The City of Fond du Lac Police Department assisted as the vehicle was traveling westbound on STH 23 into the City of Fond du Lac and came to a stop at USH 151 on STH 23.
A high-risk traffic stop was performed, and the operator of the vehicle, an 18-year-old male from Fond du Lac, was taken into custody on charges of Knowingly Flee/Elude Officer.
The operator of the vehicle was not under the influence.
There was an 18-year-old passenger in the vehicle also, who was cited for underage drinking 3rd offense, and minor transporting intoxicants in vehicle. There were no injuries as a result of the pursuit.
The pursuit lasted approximately 7.6 miles.
