Hartford Union HS names Rotary Students of the Month

January 30, 2021 – Hartford, WI – The Hartford Rotary Club, and Hartford Union High School are pleased to announce that Hayley Schultz and Irene Wilson were honored recently as Rotary Students of the Month.  The students were given special recognition for their accomplishments at the Hartford Rotary Club’s Thursday noon meetings during the month of January.

Hayley Schultz is the daughter of Deann Schultz.  Schultz has participated in girls swim and dive for the past four years and has been on the varsity team for the past three years.  She has been involved in the spring play for four years and is a member of the art club creatif, the Best Buddies program, the SMART/MAPS team, and the National Honor Society.  Schultz currently serves as secretary of the Best Buddies program at the high school.  She qualified for the state sectional swim meet in 2020 and has submitted two art pieces to the National Scholastic Art Competition.

Schultz has been a chair member of the Erin School Fun Fair for the past six years and has helped organize and run the Erin School Fun Run.  She has recently been volunteering at a local women’s shelter to give back to the community.

After high school, Schultz plans to go into astrophysics or the medical field but at this time is undecided on the school she plans to attend.

Irene Wilson is the daughter of Cathi and Paul Wilson. Wilson competed on the Varsity Girls Swim team all four years, serving as team captain the past two years, and was named MVP of the team.  She competed in the State Swim meet all four years with her main event being the 50 Freestyle.  Wilson is also very active in the music program at HUHS.  She is a  Color Guard member (4 years) and captain (2 years), first chair oboe in symphonic band, alto in concert choir, State Honors Choir (2 years), and participates in the fall musical and spring play.   Wilson also enjoyed participating in two band trips to Florida and another trip to London, England with the HUHS Music Department.

Wilson has given back to the community by participating in summer mission trips and volunteer work through her church, First United Methodist Church in Hartford.

After graduation from high school, Wilson plans to attend UW-Stevens Point to pursue a major in Music Education.
