The Hartford Rotary Club and Hartford Union High School are pleased to announce Connor Koch, Brianna Weiss, and Hannah Wheaton were honored recently as Rotary Students of the Month.
The students were given special recognition for their accomplishments at the Hartford Rotary Club’s Thursday noon meetings during the month of April.
Connor Koch is the son of Sally and Steve Koch. Koch has been active in co-curricular activities at Hartford. He has been a member of the boy’s cross-country team all four years, serving as captain this past fall.
Koch is a member of the National Honor Society, the Math Team, the First Robotics Club and Skills USA at HUHS.
He also participated in boys swimming for one year and has served as manager of the boy and girl’s track team the past three years.
Koch was part of the Skills USA – Part Automated Manufacturing team that qualified for Nationals last year, placing 7th out of 35 teams. Koch also represented HUHS at Badger Boy’s State during his junior year.
Koch has given back to his community by doing volunteer work for the Richfield Leos and Lion’s Club, serving as a construction assistant, and helping out at various Marathon and Triathlon running events in the area.
After high school, Koch plans to attend Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and a minor in Aerospace Studies.
Brianna Weiss is the daughter of Maria and Scott Weiss. Weiss has been active in the National Honor Society, the DECA and FBLA teams, and the HUHS Dance Team at HUHS, where she has served as captain the past three years. She participated in the FBLA District and Regional competitions and qualified for the National FBLA competition in 2016.
Weiss has given back to her community by volunteering her time at the annual Hartford United “Kick Some Grass” soccer tournament and serving as a girl scouts camp leader. Weiss plans to attend UW-Madison in the fall to earn a degree in Accounting. She has been accepted into the Business School as a freshman and in the future become a CPA.
Hannah Wheaton is the daughter of Philip and Rebecca Wheaton. Wheaton has been active in the National Honor Society and the Math Club at HUHS.
She enjoys science and math classes and has been on the high honor roll for seven semesters. Wheaton has given back to her community by volunteering her time with the After School Volunteer/Trainer Program at the Washington County Humane Society, the ROMP Camp Counselor Program at the Washington County Humane Society, the Lincoln School Fun Fair, and serving as a Peer Tutor at HUHS.
Wheaton plans to attend the University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse to major in Biology. She hopes to one day pursue a career as a Physician’s Assistant, Veterinarian, or Dentist.
