May 1, 2023 – Hartford, WI – The Hartford Rotary Club and Hartford Union High School are pleased to announce Mary Becker and Sierra Loosen were honored recently as Rotary Students of the Month.
The students were given special recognition for their accomplishments at the Hartford Rotary Club’s Thursday noon meetings during the month of April.
Mary Becker is the daughter of Cheri and Joe Becker. Becker has participated in student council, choir, and girls swimming all four years at HUHS. She is also a member of the National Honor Society, the school newspaper the Hartford Chronicle, and was part of the Fall Musical stage crew for three years. Becker enjoys playing the piano in her spare time and has been taking lessons since middle school.

Becker has given back to her community by volunteering her time with St. Kilian Bell Choir for the past four years and participating in the St. Kilian Work Camp/Mission Trips.
After graduation from high school, Becker plans to attend Loyola University in Chicago in the fall and major in English. She eventually plans to become an author and likely either an editor or publisher.
Sierra Loosen is the daughter of Cindy and Michael Loosen. Loosen has been very active in co-curricular activities at Hartford. She has been a member of the girls’ softball program and student council all four years. She is a member of the National Honor Society, FFA, served as stage manager of the fall musical during her junior and senior year and served as manager of the girls’ cross-country team and girls’ basketball team during her senior year.
Loosen received the coaches’ award on the varsity softball team in the spring of 2022. The coaches pick a player who is coachable, a good teammate, and a hard worker in practices and games. Loosen was named first-team all-conference as a softball utility player in 2022 and was selected as team captain for the upcoming softball season this spring.
Loosen has given back to her community by volunteering with the Hartford Christmas Committee, volunteering at local youth softball camps, and helping set up and clean up for fundraising events for her club softball team, the Richfield Rebels.
After graduation from HUHS, Loosen plans to attend the University of Wisconsin-Madison to major in biomedical engineering.
