Dec. 1, 2018 – Hartford, WI – The Hartford Rotary Club and Hartford Union High School are pleased to announce that Miranda Parker, Timothy Seramur and Lucas Simon were honored recently as Rotary Students of the Month.
The students were given special recognition for their accomplishments at the Hartford Rotary Club’s Thursday noon meetings during the month of November.
Miranda Parker is the daughter of Sheila and Ryan Parker. Parker is Co-President of the HUHS Student Council and Secretary of the National Honor Society at HUHS. She is also a member of the Model UN Club, Concert Choir, school newspaper The Hartford Chronicle, and played Audrey in a leading role in the fall musical, “The Little Shop of Horrors.”
Parker has been recognized with special honors in several areas. She was named an AP Scholar with honors, selected to the HUHS Homecoming Court, received the Jerry Spirit Award for her 2017 role in the school musical “Cinderella”, received a 1st at State Solos and Ensemble, and was selected to perform with the Kids from Wisconsin 50th Anniversary Program.
Parker has given back to her community by doing volunteer work at HUHS through the National Honor Society and the HUHS Student Council. She also directed and choreographed last year’s Erin School Musical.
After graduation from HUHS, Parker plans to study musical theatre and dance. At the present time she is auditioning around the nation at the universities she is interested in attending.
Timothy Seramur is the son of Wendy and Edward Seramur. Seramur is involved with FBLA / DECA, the Math Club, Math Team, National Honor Society, the H-Club, Skills-USA and the ALL Stars (Athletes Learning Leadership Skills Together As Responsible Students). Seramur participated in football all four years, earning 3 varsity letters and was selected as a captain during his senior year. He has also participated in track and field the past three years and basketball during his freshman year. Seramur received North Shore Second Team All-Conference recognition as an Outside Linebacker, as well as, the We Are Hartford and Captain’s Award his senior year. He was also nominated as Academic Player of the Game on “Thursday Night Lights” representing Hartford Football in the game against Slinger High School.
Through H-Club and National Honor Society, Seramur has participated in the annual Thanksgiving Food Drive and the Christmas “Toys for Tots” program. He has served as a youth coach for the Hartford Recreation Department’s Youth Football program and helped out at the annual “Pink Pumpkin Run”, Shamrock Shuffle and Erin School’s Fitness Fridays.
After graduation, Seramur plans to attend a 4 year university to pursue a major in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. He is interested in attending UW-Platteville, UW-Oshkosh, or UW-Madison. He also is interested in continuing to play football in college.
Lucas Simon is the son of Jan and Ron Simon. Simon has been involved in baseball and basketball all throughout high school. He will be on the varsity basketball team this winter and the varsity baseball team in the spring. He is also a member of the H-Club and National Honor Society at HUHS. During his career at HUHS, Simon has earned several special awards. He was named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist for 2018-19, placed first in the 2017 UW-Oshkosh Mathematical Problem Solving Competition and placed 3rd in the 2017 We the People State Competition.
Through his involvement with The National Honor Society and H-Club at HUHS, Simon has volunteered his time with the annual Christmas Toys for Tots and Thanksgiving Food Drives, the Salvation Army Bell Ringing Campaign, and Habitat for Humanity. He has also helped out with local youth baseball and basketball camps.
Simon plans to major in Mechanical Engineering at UW-Madison in fall of 2019.
