Our first special guest was Zara Radtke, a social studies teacher at Hartford Central Middle School. She was chosen out of four other teachers to be honored as the “American Legion Post 19 Teacher of the Year.”

Radtke just returned from a trip to Washington DC which was sponsored by the ‘Friends of WWII’ and was the only teacher chosen from Wisconsin. She took the opportunity to
visit Arlington National Cemetery among other historical sites. Radtke told us about two projects she plans to introduce to her students this coming school year.

Both projects involve the history and heroes of World War II.

Our second special guest was the newly hired Hartford Joint 1 School District Administrator, Tara Villalobos. She told us about her family and her extended family who were all veterans.
