Obituary | Harold Nels Rasmussen, 88, of Denmark, Wi

November 18, 2024 – Denmark, Wi – Harold Nels Rasmussen passed into eternity at 2:30 a.m. on November 14, 2024. Harold was born at home in Denmark, Wisconsin, on March 24, 1936, to the late Matilda Augusta Johanna Luedtke and Nels Peter Rasmussen. He was their eleventh and youngest child and was their only child to graduate from high school.

Harold was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corp from 1956 to 1958. Part of that time he was stationed in Japan as a PX Clerk. Locally, he served as a member of the Annual Marine Corp Ball Committee and participated in multiple fundraising events.

Harold and his family operated a dairy farm in Spruce, Wisconsin, for 26 years. He was known for his generosity and willingness to always lend a helping hand to whomever needed it. He was also a great storyteller and prankster.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Elsie Jean (Miller) Rasmussen, and ten siblings: Oswald, Ervin, Randolph, Vivian, Elsie, Peggy, Oliver, Hazel, Clarence and Mabel.

Harold leaves behind a legacy of four children: Lisa (Timothy) McMahon, Karen (Philip) Sampson, and his beloved housemates and caretakers Marcia Rasmussen, and Timothy Rasmussen; five grandchildren: Evan (Katelyn) Sampson, Katrina (Sean) Etheridge, Christopher McMahon, Felicia (Nathanael) Rebiger, and Keely (Caleb) Gibbs.; and 12 great-grandchildren with another on the way: Elsie Etheridge, Kelsie Rebiger, Bryan Etheridge, Easton Rebiger, Ezekiel Sampson, Gabriel Gibbs, Ezra Rebiger, Liliana Etheridge, Selah Rebiger, Oona Gibbs, Marcia Rebiger, and Anari Gibbs.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. with the service to follow at 11 a.m. at the Phillip Funeral Home on 1420 Paradise Drive in West Bend on Saturday, December 21, 2024 with Rev. Ellen Rasmussen officiating.  Burial will take place privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Veterans charitable organizations such as Semper Fi & America’s Fund or Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.
