December 1, 2021 – Madison, WI – Governor Tony Evers issued an executive order that says flags of the United States and the State of Wisconsin shall be flown at half-staff, December 2, 2021, in honor of Jackson Sparks of Mukwonago.
Eight-year-old Sparks was walking in the Waukesha Christmas Parade on Sunday, November 21, 2021, when he was struck by a vehicle that broke through the barricades. He was transported to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin where he died from his injuries on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.
The Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs announced Wednesday, December 1, 2021, that in accordance with Governor Evers’ Executive Order #141, the flags of the United States and the State of Wisconsin shall be flown at half-staff on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, in honor of Jackson A. Sparks.
Sparks lived in Mukwonago and was a 3rd grader at Clarendon Avenue Elementary School.
According to his obituary, Jackson loved baseball and played for the Waukesha Blazers. When not playing baseball or slam-dunking basketballs throughout the house, Jackson enjoyed fishing, catching frogs, and playing with his brother Tucker and his dog Qi’ra.
Spark’s funeral service will also take place from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2021.
The order is effective at sunrise and ends at sunset.
