Allenton, WI – Guitars for Vets-Washington County will be at Veterans Memorial Park pavilion during the Allenton Picnic. The group will play after Concert in the Park on Sunday, August 18, 2024.
Guitars for Vets is a program designed to help veterans cope with PTSD through music. Guitars are loaned or donated for veterans to learn how to play.
The program allows veterans to face the challenges of isolation or silence tied to PTSD. The camaraderie of Guitars for Vets offers a release for veterans to find solace in song.
The Guitar for Vets program begins around 3:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend and enjoy the music, food and refreshments while supporting a worthy program.
The Allenton Picnic starts Friday, August 16, with a fish fry by Jugs Hitching Post. There will also be a shredded chicken dinner available. Neighbors can drive-thru and pick up a fish fry or remain on site in the pavilion.
Friday entertainment includes Nashville recording artist Anthony Nix.
Friday starts the annual softball tournament including eight teams playing a double elimination tournament through Saturday.
Sunday features the annual Allenton Parade stepping off at 11:30 a.m. from a staging area on CTH W, down Highway 33, and ending at Veterans Memorial Park.
