Guest column | Newburg Fire Department contract up for a vote tonight, Nov. 17 | By Chief Mark Chesak

Nov. 17, 2018 – Newburg, Wi – Attention Village of Newburg residents.

As you may or may not know the village contracts with the Newburg Fire Department Inc (NFD) to provide fire protection to the residents of the Village of Newburg. The contract between the NFD and village expires at the end of this year.

The NFD has proposed to the village a 3 year contact with a 1% price increase each of the 3 years. So in the year 2019 the increase to the village would be about $360.00 or basically $1.00 a home.

The village has offered to the NFD a 10% decrease for the year 2019.

We understand no one wants a tax increase (we live here with you) however our fuel bills, insurance and utilities continue to rise. Our insurance for the department alone is $20,000

We also know that there’s a need to have police protection and to have the streets plowed and salted which are all getting increases in their 2019 budgets.

We, the Newburg Fire Department, only ask for a small piece of the pie.

We are asking all village residents to attend the Village of Newburg budget meeting THURSDAY NIGHT (11/15) AT 7PM and voice your concerns and tell village officials to approve the contract with the NFD.

If unable to attend you can contact any of the following and have you thoughts heard.
