August 26, 2022 – Newburg, WI – There was a ribbon cutting in Newburg, WI to celebrate a new playground at Grotelueschen Presidents’ Park, 719 Steepleview Road.

“Village leaders have been looking for a way for many years to ensure families would have good options for close-to-home recreation, and as might be expected, cost is always a concern,” said Village Administrator Deanna Alexander.

Chime in with the answer to the age-old question: under dog or under duck?

A good playground bought new, can cost $50,000 to $90,000. Instead, the Village was able to purchase a good condition second-hand playground from another municipality that was upgrading its facility.

“Ultimately we got about 90 percent off on the cost, fully installed! It was an amazing value for Newburg and savings for taxpayers yet desiring a playground. A huge THANK YOU to our DPW Workers for locating and installing.

Grotelueschen Presidents’ Park was named after former Village President Walter Grotelueschen

The new playground – including swings, climbing areas, three slides, and rubber landing chips – is located at the bottom of the hill, south of the pond, between Congress and Steepleview on a roadway expecting development in the near future.

The easiest access is by taking Hwy 33 then south on Congress, then immediately after the
house at 115 Congress Dr., turn right onto the dirt road.

You can also park on Steepleview Road and walk down the hill.
