Harold Walter Perkins, 86, also known as Buddy or Perky, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2015, surrounded by family.
Harold was born on October 13, 1928, in Milwaukee, to the late Dorwin and Elizabeth (Muckerheide) Perkins.
Harold moved to Kewaskum at around age three and graduated 8th grade from Holy Trinity School and from Kewaskum High School in 1946. Harold worked at Kemps Dairy, formerly known as Kewaskum Dairy as a delivery driver for 43 years.
On February 23, 1952, Harold was united in marriage to Eileen Schommer at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum. Eileen preceded Harold in death on December 5, 1993. Eileen and Buddy liked to golf, primarily at the Hon-E-Kor Country Club in Kewaskum. They enjoyed golf vacations as well as traveling to visit their children, grandchildren and many friends.
Harold was a charter member of Hon-E-Kor Country Club, serving as Secretary/Treasurer of the club for many years. In his early years, he was a bugler with the Kewaskum Drum and Bugle Corps. He played the bugle that his father played in WWI. He enjoyed playing softball at Theimer Dome until he was 72 and loved watching high school sports especially when his grandchildren played. He enjoyed fishing, Milwaukee Braves and Brewers baseball, Packer football, and “Happy Hour,” especially at Inky’s Tap (now known as The 5th Quarter) in Kewaskum. He was a great friend to many and was known as “Papa Buddy” to his grandchildren’s friends.
Those Harold leaves behind to cherish his memory include seven children, Candace Behm, Patrick (Caren) Perkins, Lynne (Ronald) Reigle, Michael (Patricia) Perkins, Timothy (Renee) Perkins, Pamela (Don Straub) Perkins and Tracy (Scott) Amerling; 19 grandchildren, Benjamin (fiancé Liz) Perkins, Matthew (Lisa) Perkins, Jason Behm, Brett (Sherri) Behm , Adam (Kristi) Perkins, Megan (Blair) McLinn, Breyan (Nicholas) Skeen, Garrett (Lindsay) Donath, Danielle (Jeremy) Knorr, Eric (Ceann Thuecks) Nass, Sam (Janet) Reigle, Chelsea (Matthew) Schaeffer, Ian Perkins, Maxwell Perkins, Nathaniel Perkins, Zach Amerling, Abby Amerling, Alejandro and Solana Perkins; 14 great-grandchildren (and two on the way); a great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Marilyn Schommer, Viola Lawrenz, and Patricia Kirschling; a brother, Marvin (Sue) Perkins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Harold will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum with Father Edwin Kornath officiating.
The Perkins family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home in Kewaskum from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. where a prayer vigil will be held at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials to the family are appreciated.
