May 15, 2024 – West Bend, Wi – Thomas “Tom” Richard Dobberstein, 87, of West Bend, WI, passed away on the early morning hours of Friday, May 10, 2024, at Froedtert Hospital in Menomonee Falls.
He was born on November 26, 1936, in Milwaukee to John and Bernetta (nee Berther) Dobberstein and grew up in Milwaukee. Tom graduated from St. John’s Cathedral High School in 1954 in Milwaukee and, after attending UW-M, served in the United States Army during the Berlin crisis.
He married his love Beverly Ann Anich on March 18, 1970 and worked for many years in Quality Control for Stopler Steel in Menomonee Falls and Mercury Marine in Hartford. Tom was a long-time member of St. Frances Cabrini Church, the Moose Lodge, the American Legion, a charter member of the Kettle Moraine YMCA, and member of the Adams County Old Farmers Antique Club.
Tom enjoyed serving as a “Mr. Fixit” for his family, going out to dinner with family and friends, and traveling with his wife. He also loved a good joke and dessert and would go above and beyond to help others, giving to many charitable causes.
Tom is survived by his wife Beverly; children Brigitte (Bernard) Newman, Nicholas (Misti) Dobberstein; grandchildren, Bryce (Landon Donigan) Newman, Brittney (Nicholas) Ray, Raina and Truett Dobberstein; great-grandchildren, Carter and Chloe Ray. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law Paul and Audrey Anich, brother Ronald (Barb) Dobberstein and sister Diane (Bob) Long.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at St. Frances Cabrini Church (1025 S 7th Ave. West Bend, WI 53095) with Rev. Kevin Harmon presiding. Visitation will be held before the service at Cabrini Church from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. with a procession and interment immediately following mass at Washington County Memorial Park with a luncheon to follow.
