August 31, 2021 – West Bend, WI – Dear Editor, The ninth annual West Bend Community & Alumni Scholarship Foundation (WB COLUMNS) 5K Run/Walk: “Not Just a Walk in the Park,” held on Thursday, August 5, was a success.
We saw 162 participants register to run or walk the 5K course in Riverside Park. We are happy to report that, with our community’s help, West Bend Columns raised over $30,000 to be donated to help give local high school graduates scholarships for their education.
We would like to thank the many volunteers who worked hard to insure the run/walk’s success, as well as the following donors for their generous support: West Bend Mutual Insurance Company’s Charitable Fund, Pick Heaters, Murphy & Prachthauser SC, Horicon Bank, First Weber Group Foundation, Carl and Marlene Wegner, Chuck and Karen O’Meara, Schensema CPA, Joel and Laurie Kirsch, Robert W. Baird West Bend Office, Delta Defense, Allen and Ann Pauli, Ken and Sue Meuler, Meijer, John and Lynn Duwell, John and Lynn Punzenberger, and Gary Britton.
We would also like give a special thanks to the City of West Bend, the West Bend Police Department, the West Bend Police Auxiliary, the West Bend Park, Recreation, and Forestry Department, the West Bend School District – Athletic Department, Jeff’s Spirits on Main, Amanda Moder and the West Bend West Dance Team, Geralyn Breunig, Allen Pauli, Bink Steinbach, Tracy Mueller, John Duwell, Kwik Trip, and Washington County Insider for their help and support.
