April 4, 2025 – Fond du Lac Co., Wi – On Friday, April 4, 2025, at approximately 9:09 p.m. a deputy with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office made a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation on S. Military Road and Interstate 41, in the City of Fond du Lac.
The deputy identified the driver by WI photo driver’s license. As another deputy arrived on scene. The initial deputy requested the driver to step out of the vehicle. The driver refused the deputies’ multiple commands to exit the vehicle. The driver went to put the car in drive, and a deputy deployed his Conducted Energy Weapon (Taser) on the driver. The taser deployment was unsuccessful and the vehicle fled from the traffic stop resulting in a vehicle pursuit.
The pursuit went northbound on Military Road then southbound on Pioneer Road. The suspect vehicle turned off all of his lights and increased speeds and failed to obey the Deputies’ lights and sirens. The vehicle struck the roundabout at Pioneer Road and Hickory Street. The pursuit continued eastbound on Pioneer Road where the suspect vehicle struck the roundabout at Morris Street.
The suspect vehicle continued eastbound on Pioneer Road and struck a curb at Main Street causing significant damage to the suspect vehicle. The pursuit continued eastbound on Pioneer Road. The pursuit continued southbound on Park Avenue.
The suspect vehicle went southbound on Martin Avenue then eastbound on Police Memorial Drive. A Deputy was able to perform an Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT maneuver) on the suspect vehicle. The suspect vehicle went off the roadway and drove through the lawn of a private business on Camelot Drive causing property damage.
The pursuit continued northbound on Camelot Drive where another Deputy was able to successfully perform a PIT maneuver, and the vehicle came to a stop. A high-risk traffic stop was performed and the driver was taken into custody without further incident. The total length of the pursuit was 3.5 miles.
The driver, a 45-year-old male from Milwaukee, was transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail on charges of felony fleeing / eluding, 2nd degree reckless endangering safety, felony bail jumping, and criminal damage to property. The male was out on a $500 cash bond through Brown County for felony fleeing / eluding.
No deputies were injured as a result of the pursuit. Two Sheriff’s Office squads received minor damage during the PIT maneuver. The suspect was evaluated at the scene by the City of Fond du Lac paramedics due to the taser deployment.
