Both of these drugs are produced to look similar in color and packaging to candy that is typically targeted to be sold to youth, however these drugs could be harmful or even fatal to a child who consumed them. This is yet another example of why we remain committed to detecting and remove these drugs from our community.

On 3/12/2023 shortly after 4AM, deputies observed a vehicle traveling on I-41 that had a registration violation. Deputies recognized the registered owner was still in custody at the Fond du Lac County Jail after a recent search warrant that had been executed at their local residence and which had yielded a seizure of illegal drugs. Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the city of Fond du Lac on South Military Road a short time after the vehicle exited Interstate 41.

A deputy and his K9 partner Iro arrived to conduct an open air sniff around the vehicle. As the deputy was retrieving K9 Iro, the 36 year old woman from Fond du Lac who had been operating the vehicle, was outside of her vehicle but refused commands to stop and instead attempted to return to her vehicle at which time she resisted deputy’s efforts to place her into handcuffs.

At this time, she was placed under arrest for resisting/obstructing. K9 Iro was deployed to conduct an open air sniff around the vehicle which resulted in a positive alert.

A probable cause search of the vehicle yielded 2 electronic scales, suspected marijuana, 3 psilocybin mushroom chocolate bars, and 50 suspected methamphetamine pills. The assorted pills were different shapes and designs which resemble ecstasy pills (MDMA) however, multiple field tests were conducted and returned with the presence of methamphetamine and tests didn’t show any amount of MDMA.

The operator has a drug related criminal history and was out on bail for possession of cocaine – repeat offender, possession of THC – repeat offender, and possession of an electric weapon. The operator was booked into the Fond du Lac County Jail for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of psilocybin, possession of THC – repeat offender, resisting or obstructing an officer, and felony bail jumping.
