Fond du Lac woman recognized for 1st-place finish at National Craft Championship

Fond du Lac, Wi – Wisconsin State Legislators and Congressman Grothman’s office presented Northcentral Construction apprentice Ali Gordee of Fond du Lac, WI with a state citation and a flag flown over the United States Capitol in recognition of her first-place safety award finish at the National Craft Championship earlier this year.

Nearly 200 of the most talented construction professionals from throughout the nation compete against each other at the National Craft Championship.  Established in 1987, the National Craft Championship is made up of an online exam and a six-hour skills competition simulated to be a construction project.

Gordee finished in first place in carpentry during Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Apprenticeship Skill Competition in West Bend, WI earlier this year.

The competition objectives are to demonstrate safety along with craft interdependency and teamwork, simulate working conditions where planning is critical to success, and highlight individual leadership and workmanship skills as the project is assembled and completed.

This year’s event where Ali placed first in the safety category was held in San Antonio.  She is only the second female from Wisconsin to compete at the national competition.
