April 10, 2023 – Fond du Lac, WI – On Sunday, April 9, 2023 around 8:26pm Deputies with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s were dispatched to a residence in the Village of Van Dyne for a report of a disturbance involving a 30-year-old male.
Initial reports indicated the male was acting severely aggressive and was believed to be under the influence of drugs.
A Deputy arrived on scene and made contact the male suspect who was located in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. The deputy observed a loaded syringe in plain view and indicators of impairment with the suspect. The deputy attempted to remove the suspect from the vehicle before he fled from the residence and a pursuit was initiated.
The suspect began traveling north on Van Dyne Road before he entered Winnebago County. The suspect continued north on County Road R in Winnebago County traveling at a high rate of speed. A Deputy attempted a Pursuit Intervention Technique (P.I.T.) on County Road R but was unsuccessful in stopping the suspect vehicle. The suspect continued a short distance before coming to a stop on his own. Deputies were able to take him into custody without further incident.
The 30-year-old male from Fond du Lac is currently being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail with pending charges of fleeing/eluding an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting/obstructing and OWI 1st Offense. The suspect is currently out on Parole with Wisconsin Probation and Parole for theft and drug related offenses.
One squad car and the suspect vehicle received minor damages from the pursuit. There are no reported injuries from the pursuit. Assisting with the pursuit was the Wisconsin State Patrol, the pursuit covered approximately 3 miles.

At approximately 9:10 PM Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office were conducting a welfare check on Forest Ave just East of Townline Rd in the Township of Lamartine for a citizen who was walking on the road and potentially in a state of crisis.
Deputies were parked on the north shoulder of Forest Ave speaking with the citizen. Both marked patrol squads had their emergency lights and headlights activated. While speaking to the citizen, Deputies noticed an east bound vehicle traveling towards the Deputies on Forest Ave. Deputies noted the vehicle began to accelerate as it neared their location, the vehicle swerved left of center almost striking the three Deputies and citizen. The Deputies along with the citizen, had to move out of the way in order to avoid being struck.
The vehicle narrowly missed the lead patrol squad but struck the push bumper of the second patrol squad with its driver side mirror. After striking the patrol squad, the vehicle did not stop. The vehicle accelerated and continued traveling eastbound on Forest Ave. One of the Deputies was able to catch up to the suspect vehicle stopping it on Esterbrook Road, just south of Highway 23.
The driver was identified as a 22-year-old male from Brandon. He was ultimately arrested on suspicion of operating while impaired. He is currently being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail on charges of 1st Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety.
One squad car and the suspect vehicle received minor damages from the hit and run crash. There are no reported injuries from the incident. The Wisconsin State Patrol and the City of Fond du Lac Police Department assisted on scene.
