Fleeing driver tased following pursuit in Fond du Lac Co. | By Sgt. Brandon Henning

October 4, 2024 – Fond du Lac Co. Wi – On Friday, October 4, 2024, at approximately 12:49 a.m. a deputy with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle for speed violation going southbound on Interstate 41 near Sales Road in the Town of Eldorado.

The deputy activated his emergency lights and siren. The vehicle did not yield to the deputy’s lights and siren. The vehicle continued southbound on Interstate 41 and increased its speed in attempt to elude the deputy. The vehicle took the Winnebago Drive exit, but continued onto Interstate 41 southbound.

 

A deputy and a trooper were able to successfully deploy Stop Stick tire deflation devices on Interstate 41 south of Johnson Street. The vehicle continued southbound on Interstate 41, but decreased its speed due to all four tires being deflated.

The vehicle exited at Military Road. The vehicle continued southbound on Military Road where it came to a stop. The driver fled on foot. There was a brief foot pursuit, and the driver was apprehended after a taser deployment. There were no other occupants in the vehicle during the pursuit.

The driver was identified as a 25-year-old male from Milwaukee. He is currently on probation through the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections for Armed Robbery, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Misdemeanor Resisting or Obstructing an Officer.

The driver was arrested for Vehicle Operator Flee and Elude Officers, 2nd Degree Recklessly Endanger Safety, Resisting or Obstructing an Officer, Operate a Motor Vehicle with a Restricted Controlled Substance, Possession of THC, and a hold placed by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. The driver was also cited for several traffic violations.

The pursuit lasted approximately 6.5 miles. No civilians, or deputies were injured as a result of this pursuit. The suspect was transported to SSM Health by ambulance to be evaluated. Once medically cleared, the driver was transported to the Fond du Lac County Jail where he was held on his charges.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Wisconsin State Patrol and City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue with this incident.
