Washington County, WI – Former United States Secretary of State General Colin Powell has died.
The presidential proclamation reads:
“As a mark of respect for General Colin Powell and his life of service to our Nation, the President has ordered the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Wisconsin shall be flown at half-staff at all buildings, grounds, and military installations of the State of Wisconsin equipped with such flags beginning immediately and ending at sunset on October 22, 2021.”
According to Wikipedia, “Colin Luther Powell was an American politician, diplomat, statesman, and four-star general who served as the 65th United States Secretary of State from 2001 to 2005. He was the first African-American Secretary of State. He served as the 16th United States National Security Advisor from 1987 to 1989 and as the 12th Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1989 to 1993… He was Commander of the U.S. Army Forces Command in 1989.”
