August 30, 2022 – Town of Hartford, WI – A fire caused about $90,000 dollars in damage Tuesday afternoon on Pond Road in the Town of Hartford. The follow-up report from Chief Paul Stephans is below.
Hartford Fire and Rescue was dispatched at 4:37 p.m. on August 30, 2022, to a shed fire in the 7500 block of Pond Road in the Town of Hartford. A passerby noticed the fire, called 911, and alerted the owners that their shed was on fire.
Fire crews were able to get the fire under control in about 45 minutes, but crews remained on scene for approximately 3 hours extinguishing the remaining hotspots. The shed did sustain extensive damage and was deemed a total loss.
Adjacent structures and vehicles were also damaged from the intense heat of the
fire.
There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and the Hartford Fire and Rescue Department.
Damage is estimated to be about $90,000.
Hartford Fire and Rescue Department was assisted by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, the Slinger, St. Lawrence, and Neosho Fire Departments on scene and Richfield and West Bend Fire Departments responded to subsequent requests for 911 incidents while Hartford crews were busy fighting the fire. The Hartford Police Department and WE Energies also responded to assist. The Mutual Aid Box Alarm System was activated and worked exactly as designed.
