At least eight fire departments responded to a fire at the Dollar General Store in North Fond du Lac Tuesday morning.
Store manager Teresa Patchett says she saw smoke when she was opening the store around 7:45. She turned off the store alarm and called 911.
After a 911 operator dispatched the fire department Patchett says she saw flames coming from a cooler in the front of the store. No one was injured in the fire. The store is located in the 300 block of Prospect Avenue .
North Fond du Lac Deputy Fire Chief Bruce Pluim was at work when he received a page about a fire at the Dollar General Store on Prospect Avenue. When firefighters arrived they could see smoke and flames coming through the glass window in the front door.
North Fond du Lac Village Administrator Chuck Hornung says when they considered an auto aid agreement with Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue to provide a ladder truck during more serious structure fires; they never thought it would be tested so soon.
