Alright ya’ll, I have to share this because I want to shout out Tammy Michaels Wuebben and Alex Kain at A1 Health & Fitness for changing the way I think about the scale and weight loss in general.
I started at the gym 6 months ago and started at 1,500 calories, which was obviously a deficit for me. I was seeing amazing progress on that plan and went from 32% to 22% in about 4 months.
Keep in mind I had lost 30 pounds prior to joining, so this shift was pretty incredible in this amount of time. When I reached the lowest weight I had been since literally high school, Tammy Michaels Wuebben increased my calories to 2,000. I was freaked out. I have been dieting my whole life – I thought for SURE I was going to gain fat back on such “high” calories. I trusted her and Alex and stuck with the plan and I am SO GLAD I did.
In the last 7 weeks, my body fat percentage has went from 22% to 20%. I’ve lost 3 pounds of body fat and gained over 4 pounds of muscle. I’ve hit a PR nearly every time I’m in the gym these 7 weeks. My mind is seriously blown!
I have a vacation coming up in 7 weeks, so now I am back to cutting calories, but when I get back I am jumping back on the body recomp train.
I honestly just needed to let everyone know that:
The scale is actual trash and so is BMI – body scans are the way to go.
Tammy Michaels Wuebben and Alex Kain know what they are talking about. I’m so sorry my mind doubted you – my heart never did, I promise.
Patience, consistency, and lifting heavy are amazing things.
I started in NOT a good place and I’m honestly amazed at how A1 has changed me. Thank you to everyone for supporting my journey and I hope you know that I am cheering us ALL on. Ask me 6 months ago if I would be typing something like this and I would say, “yeah right!” It’s been cool and humbling to see these changes. Keep doing the damn thing (and make sure I keep doing the damn thing too – I need that accountability!).
