June 6, 2022 – West Bend, WI – Four people have expressed interest in filling the opening for District 8 alderman in West Bend.
The seat is open following the May 16, 2022 resignation of alderwoman Meghann Kennedy.
Applicants are listed below in alphabetical order:
Dustin Collett – Grew up in District 8, local business owner, and familiar with the landfill issue.
Geena Eckert – lives in District 8
Clifford Van Beek – lived in District 8 since 2006. Retired supervisor Milwaukee County Zoo. Retired president AFSCME local 1656, District council 48. Current crossing guard in West Bend. Interviewed for open seat in 2020. Ran for Dist. 8 in April 2021 and lost.
Aaron Zingsheim – a fifth grade teacher at Silverbrook School in West Bend. He lived in Milwaukee nine years and then moved to West Bend in 2014. Interviewed for open seat in 2020.

The City posted the position seeking interested individuals who reside in District 8 to fill the vacancy.
The Council will review required materials and interview candidates at the meeting June 6, 2022. The successful appointee will represent District 8 for the remainder of the term, expiring in April 2023.
To be eligible to serve, an individual at the time of the appointment must be:
- A citizen of the United Sates and the state of Wisconsin;
- An elector of the city of West Bend; and
- A resident of District 8.

Candidates will be reviewed at the Common Council meeting at City Hall, 1115 S. Main Street, on June 6, 2022. A special interview session begins at 5 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.
