Fifth Kwik Trip to open Nov. 12, 2021 in West Bend, WI… is a 6th on the way?

November 11, 2021 – West Bend, WI – Kwik Trip No. 5 will open Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 at 5 a.m. the corner of Paradise Drive and River Road in West Bend, WI.
Kwik Trip

It was December 13, 2015 when it was first announced Kwik Trip would be building a store in West Bend. The location was 1700 S. Silverbrook Drive.

After that, four more stores were added within the next six years including:

Kwik Trip No. 2 at Decorah and S. Main Street, No. 3 on Highway 33 and Schoenhaar Drive, No. 4 on W. Washington Street and 18th Avenue, and No. 5 on Paradise Drive and River Road.

Is five Kwik Trips in a community of 31,000+ enough?

How about six?

Morrie's Honda

There is some speculation Kwik Trip is exploring its options to add another store on the west side of town on Highway 33.

A couple things to keep in mind. Kwik Trip likes to 1) build at an intersection 2) traffic lights are preferred 3) locations are generally 3.5 acres.

Kwik Trip open

Kwik Trip had been exploring the location of the former Perkins on W. Washington Street, however that deal was nixed when an agreement could not be reached.

The speculation on construction of a sixth Kwik Trip is reportedly two years out.

Calls have been place to property owners on Highway 33 west from Scenic Drive all the way to County Highway Z in the Town of West Bend.

There’s currently land on W. Washington Street on the south side of the road between Morrie’s West Bend Honda and Fleet Farm.

“That land is developable to the west of our dealership, but that call would be Freemont Holdings,” said Morrie’s West Bend general manager Brad Kreiss. “Freemont Holdings owns Morrie’s and it’s a big developer/private equity firm.”

There is a nice intersection to the west of Morrie’s at Highway 33 and CTH Z. That parcel on the southwest side of the road is in the Town of West Bend.

The Town Clerk said there have been no requests to build on that parcel. If a larger business would want to come in sewer and water would have to be pulled in from the City of West Bend. The clerk said that request could be made by the property owner and no annexation would be needed.

Property investor and car dealership owner Steve Kearns still owns a couple parcels on Highway 33 west. “A sixth one would be west of Highway 45 and it would do very good,” said Kearns.

Another parcel closer to an intersection with traffic lights might be the south side of Highway 33 at Wildwood Drive. Remember in March 2016 when that parcel was going to be home to Pizza Ranch?  Five short months after that in August 2016 PRWB Real Estate LLC flipped the 1.7 acres on W. Washington Street and sold the parcel for $500,000 to Steve Kearns. That property, however, has since been sold to the Russ Darrow Group.

Despite calls to property owners, nobody has confirmed being contacted by Kwik Trip and we’re still waiting for response from Kwik Trip officials.  Stay tuned!

Take a look at the area on Highway 33 west of the Highway 45 overpass. What location do you think would be a good fit to open another Kwik Trip.

On a history note: Do you remember what used to be at the location of Kwik Trip No. 5? How about No. 4, No. 3, No. 2, and No. 1?

  1. How many Kwik Trips does West Bend,WI. need in total. They set the gas prices for the town an leave no diversity. Just like a Walgreen’s on every corner elsewhere in the state. Enough is enough I think.

  2. I have to disagree with Mary’s comment I think quick trips employ a lot of people and they’re very good run gas stations.

  3. Agree! 100 %. I live on the west side of town. Fleet farms pumps are so dang slow. Love kwik trips! Our gas is a lot cheaper than Slinger’s right now.
