On September 5, 2016 a 67-year-old Village of Grafton man was fatally injured as a result of a motorcycle accident on County Highway M south of Paradise Drive in the Town of Trenton.
The accident was discovered at 2 p.m. by a passing motorist who came upon the scene and contacted 911.
Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies along with the Newburg First Responders were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival a single victim was located lying near the motorcycle in the west ditch.
The victim was alert and conscious with visible injuries. West Bend intercept was requested for additional assistance. The man was transported to a local hospital where he later died as result of his injuries.
The investigation revealed the victim was traveling south on County Highway M and crested a hill near a curve in the roadway at a speed too fast for the operator to safely negotiate.
The operator began to lose control of the motorcycle in the west ditch as he approached the curve, laying the motorcycle down and was ejected from the motorcycle. The operator was wearing a helmet.
There were no witnesses to the accident. The victim’s name is not being released at this time pending notification of family members. This is the ninth traffic fatality in Washington County in 2016.
