“The biggest order we had today was 26 paczkis for someone at the high school,” said clerk Nancy. She rushed to fill another order of the Polish-style pastry with powdery-sugar goodness.
With Lent on the horizon the day before Ash Wednesday has morphed into a sort of last-minute calorie binge.
As a form of Lenten penance one woman said she will be “giving up soda and going to Mass once a week.”
Lent is the 40 days before Holy Thursday, April 14, 2022.
Easter Sunday is April 17, 2022.
