Dec. 20, 2018 – Hartford, WI – Starting January 2, 2019, neighbors in Hartford will be able to receive important text alerts on their cell phones from City staff.
Residents interested in being informed of Public Works emergencies, traffic, police press releases, community events, government jobs, etc. can sign up through the City of Hartford’s website. Opting-in is easy, only requiring an email address and phone number.
“If done regularly, it will help engage citizens in what we are doing and how it might affect them instantaneously,” said City Administrator, Steve Volkert.
Some examples of the text alerts that Volkert shared include:
Utilities Alert: There is a water main break at Airport Road and Wacker Dr. Please stay away from this area while crews address this break.
Public Works Alert: Reminder, garbage will be picked up one day later due to the holiday.
General Government Alert: Don’t forget that Spring Elections are today. Polls open from 7 a.m – 8 p.m. at the Jack Russell Memorial Library, City Hall, and the Hartford Rec Center
Traffic Alert: Main Street is closed off from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. due to the Holiday Parade.
Signing up for the alerts are free, though standard text message rates through your cellphone provider may apply.
During the sign up process, participants have the ability to opt-out of any alert categories they don’t want to recieve.
