Elevate receives grant to help provide peer-to-peer support to those who have overdosed | By Ron Naab

May 15, 2018 – Washington Co., WI –  Ronna Corliss, County Prevention Manager for Elevate and Chair of the Washington County Heroin Task Force, recently announced that Elevate has received an ED2Recovery grant from Wisconsin Voices of Recovery to provide peer support to individuals following an opioid overdose.

This new program will partner with Froedtert St. Joseph’s campus in its Emergency Care Department to bring interactive services to Washington County.

“This is exciting news for the residents of Washington County as we will be able to provide immediate assistance to those brought into the hospital due to an addiction and help them begin their recovery,” said Corliss.

Over the past several months, Wisconsin Voices for Recovery has been working hard to implement a statewide program that pairs peer support with individuals following an opioid overdose in the Emergency Department setting.

ED2Recovery is now in 10 counties statewide, with plans to move into additional counties in the next phase of the project.  Click HERE for more information.

The Washington County Heroin Task Force’s Treatment and Recovery sub-committee will provide direction for this program.

The Washington County Heroin Task Force will be meeting on Thursday, May 17 at 9 a.m. in room 3224 of the Public Agency Center, 432 E. Washington Street, West Bend.

Those interested in supporting treatment, prevention, education of the heroin/opioid crisis in Washington County are invited to attend.

  1. Lol – the last thing an addict needs is *any* further contact with his ‘peers’.

An addict needs to wholly reject his peers and if said addict can ruin his reputation among these ‘peers’, all the better.

Just another long line of evidences you’ve got a bunch of cat ladies ‘earning’ a living by essentially making an absolute tragedy worse. Just a bunch of state mandated revenue centers – funding should be shut off immediately due to non-effective programs.

If they were effective, you could measure it – haven’t seen anything like that.

Just an excuse to call ‘grant writing’ a skill and earn 100-some-thousand while producing ZERO value for anyone else.
