February 8, 2022 – Hartford, WI – On Saturday, January 29, 2022, around 5:30 p.m., power in the northwest quadrant of the city flickered off, then on. The interruption was nearly unnoticeable. However, for those who were home during that time, their lights might have shortly dimmed and then brightened, or their electric clocks might have reset to 12:00.
When this happens the power supply is being interrupted, normally by a natural occurrence. A bird could fly into a power wire, a squirrel could eat through an electrical box, or simply bad weather could cause this nanosecond outing. But since the system is a closed system, the power goes immediately back on by being fed at the substation.
Hartford Electric staff will get called out when this happens just to see if they can find the culprit to make sure it doesn’t reoccur.
