Driver, 26, arrested for felony fleeing in FDL County | By Sgt Brett Handschke

August 4, 2024 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – On, Sunday, August 4, 2024 at approximately 12:44 p.m. a deputy of the Fond du Lac County Sheriffs Office observed a red Toyota Camry traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on State Highway 23 near County Highway UU in the Township of Empire.

The deputy activated his radar unit and obtained a speed of 126mph in a 65mph zone.

The deputy attempted to initiated a traffic stop by activating his emergency lights and siren.

As the deputy attempted to close the distance, the driver made an immediate turn onto Richards Road, which is a dead-end road.

The driver attempted to evade the deputy by driving into the backyard of a private residence on Richards Road.

Witnesses in the area were able to direct the deputy to the location of the suspect near the private residence and successfully took him into custody without incident. The suspect was not known to the private residence.

The pursuit covered approximately 1.5 miles, and there were no reports of damage or injuries.

 

The driver, a 26-year-old man from Manitowoc, WI, is being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail on charges of felony fleeing and eluding, second-degree reckless endangerment and cited for several traffic and county ordinance violations.
