Two West Bend baseball players drafted by Major League Baseball

July 13, 2021 – West Bend, WI – Two West Bend baseball players have been selected during today’s Major League Baseball Draft.

Carl M. Kuss Memorial Field drafted

Joey Spence of West Bend East High School (2021) and Nathan Burns formerly of West Bend West High School (2017)  were selected in today’s portion of the Major League Baseball Draft.

Spence was selected in the 18th Round by the Arizona Diamondbacks and Burns was selected in the 19th Round by the Los Angeles Angels.

According to Craig Larsen with the West Bend Baseball Association, “Whether or not Spence or Burns head to professional baseball or remain in school, the West Bend Baseball Association is excited to continue to witness your baseball journey.
“Spence and Burns are added to the legacy of baseball in the City of West Bend, where since 2000, seven West Bend players, Jason Weidmeyer, Mike Mueller, Ryan Rohlinger, Paul Hoenecke, Zach Biermann, and now Joey Spence and Nathan Burns have been drafted by Major League Baseball teams.”
