Nov. 21, 2016 – Jackson, WI – The 9th annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held in West Bend, Jackson and Germantown.
The meal is free and open to the public. The fare is a traditional Thanksgiving dinner of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy, sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, squash, cranberry relish, breads and mouth watering desserts.
“It was started with the simple thought that no one should have to celebrate Thanksgiving alone,” said organizer Mary Kay von Brendel. “With the help of many volunteers and donations from the community we have hosted an event that is a privilege to be a part of.”
Over 600 guests are expected at three locations and home delivery serving all of Washington County.
In addition; any food not opened to the public is then donated to the Full Shelf Food Pantry. All other foods are then packaged and donated to guests or delivered to local shelters and emergency service personnel.
“Each year has offered an opportunity to improve and expand on what we have to offer and we still need some help,” von Brendel said.
Monetary donations are needed to cover the costs of this event.
Donations can be made to the Community Thanksgiving Dinner at any Westbury Bank location or if you prefer you can mail donations to: St. Mary’s Parish/ Attn: Mary Kay von Brendel/415 Roosevelt Dr./ West Bend, WI 53090.
Also Germantown is still in need of volunteers. If interested contact them at 262-251-8250.
If you know someone that needs a Thanksgiving meal delivered please call 504-351-4655.
Volunteers are also needed to assist with cooking, set up, delivering meals, greeting and serving guests, clean-up and the final delivery of food donations.
“Thank you in advance for your consideration,” said von Brendel. “Please feel free to share the flyer with anyone you feel could benefit from this event.”
