July 12, 2022 – Hartford, WI – The Hartford Police Department is saddened by the passing of Don Macomber.
One of our Hartford Police Citizen Academy Alumni Association founders has died. Don Macomber lost his battle with ALS on July 11, 2022.
Donald J. Macomber peacefully joined the Lord on Monday, July 11, 2022.
Survived by Audrey, his loving wife of 65 years, daughters Renee Draper and Karla (Kevin) Pavloski, grandchildren Bobbie Jean (Craig) Payne, Justin (Kari) Pavloski and Ashley (Ryan) Nelson and great-grandchildren Noah, Rachel, Meredith, Logan, and Lucy.
Don was fun-loving; devoted to his family, church and community. He could always found on the sidelines supporting his family in their activities and endeavors. Encouraging everyone as they pursued their interests. He enjoyed singing in the choir, traditional country music, dancing, dogs, horses, watching westerns and mysteries. He very much enjoyed hunting with his brothers working in his yard and the outdoors. At 65, he finally learned to play the piano (a lifelong desire).
After retiring from Concours Motors after 38 years, he became involved in many community volunteer organizations including Red Cross (20 years), Hartford Citizens Police Academy Alumni (President 10 years), Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), FBI Citizen’s Academy, and many more.
Heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved on dad’s journey – the ALS team at Froedtert for years of guidance and support, the ALS Association for their attentiveness to our needs for home care equipment, the many friends that came to visit and sent cards with well wishes and the staff at Kathy’s Hospice in West Bend for their kindness and compassion for dad and his family.
