The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has received a generous donation from Walmart in the amount of $2500 to provide for ballistic helmets that can be worn by patrol deputies responding to dangerous incidents in Dodge County. In 2015, about an hour away from Dodge County, the life of a Neenah Police Officer was saved when gunfire struck his ballistic helmet. The bullet that struck his helmet ricocheted off saving his life.

“Keeping my deputies safe is my number 1 priority, just as when we raised money last year to outfit them all with ballistic vests. These are pieces of equipment that will not be used every day, but when my men and women need them, I want them to have the protection available to them just as the Neenah Police Department has done for its officers” said Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Walmart for its generous contribution to its community.
If anyone would like to assist the Sheriff’s Office in raising money to outfit all of its deputies, they may contact Sheriff Dale Schmidt to make a donation. We were able to reach out to the community last year and we received overwhelming support. The cost of the helmets is estimated at about $400 per helmet and we would need about 30 more helmets to outfit our staff. Our law enforcement are the first line of defense in any dangerous situation and we want to equip them with lifesaving tools. At the end of the day, if law enforcement officers are not able to protect their own lives, they won’t be there to protect yours.

The Sheriff’s Office would also like to thank Walmart for another $500 donation to the Dodge County Law Enforcement Explorer Post. That money will be used to purchase equipment needed for that organizations success.
