A fabulous night on Main Street as more than 60 neighbors and friends gathered for the inaugural DISH Downtown – an evening that featured a 3-course meal presented by Cafe Soeurette in historic Downtown West Bend.
Guests were treated to live music and fabulous food by chef Jodi Janisse-Kanzenbach. The center of the table spread featured an assortment of pickled items, ham, deviled eggs, breads crackers, marinated tomatoes, butters and jams.
The first course was a chilled cucumber and zucchini soup with corn relish.
The second course featured minted ginger chicken skewers, beat and apricot relish and French carrot salad. The evening was topped off with a melt-in-your-mouth dessert of cinnamon shortbread, espresso chocolate cream and sugared cherries.
“This was just so relaxed and fun,” said 21-year-old Margee Mauney, a 2013 graduate of West Bend East. “I liked it that everybody was all at one table because we met new people and got to talk to everyone – it was a different take on a dining experience.”
“She has a tremendously unique creativity,” said Marshall Mauney. “I know when I come here I’m going to have an enjoyable meal.”
The street was cordoned off, like an old-school block party. Tables dressed in white lined stretched down the center of the street.
Mother Nature cooperated with a brilliant, sunny late afternoon. Janisse-Kanzenbach donated 10 percent of the money raised to the Downtown West Bend Association and Saturday’s Farmers’ Market.
I hope it will be there when I get out of AR. I really miss the old city . I manage the Central Building from 1975 to 1982 . I was at MPTI School .
