OBITUARY | Dennis John Jungers, 87, of West Bend

West Bend, Wi – Dennis John Jungers, 87, of West Bend died peacefully on July 10, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born August 4, 1936, on the family farm in the Town of Fredonia to Nic and Cecilia Jungers.

Dennis attended St. Mary’s School before graduating from Random Lake High School with the class of 1954. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and spent a part of his service stationed in Okinawa, Japan.

In September 1964 Dennis married Bernice Ansay at St Rose of Lima in Fredonia. They settled in West Bend and have called it home for all of their almost 60 years of marriage.

 

He enjoyed watching the Brewers, Packers and Badgers. He and Bernice travelled often to Branson, MO to enjoy country music. They also enjoyed bowling and playing Sheepshead together. Dennis was very proud that he was able to donate over 100 pints of blood to those in need.

 

Dennis was employed at the West Bend Company for a short time before working at the Gehl Company. He started as a welder and then worked in the Maintenance Department. He retired in 1997 after 38 years of employment.

 

He was a member of Lodge 1398, Loyal Order of the Moose in West Bend and the Gehl Hexelbank Retirement Club.

 

Dennis is survived by loving wife, Bernice, his three children Sheri Lofton, Nicholas (Jodell) Jungers and Richard (Birgit) Jungers and six grandchildren: Colleen (Juanita Weaver) Lofton, Mikayla (Nick) Zausch, Elizabeth Lofton, Matt (Shelby) Jungers, Kate Jungers and Carolyn Jungers.

 

He is further survived by his siblings Ken (Kathy) Jungers, Peter (Sandy) Jungers and Mike Jungers; Bernice’s siblings: Lester (Lois) Ansay, Rosanne Wittkop, Ron (Chris) Ansay and Joanne Ansay and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Nic and Cecilia; his brother Ronald Jungers, his sister-in-law Jane Jungers, his niece Connie Jungers, his parents-in-law Clarence and Oliva Ansay, a sister-in-law Marie Peterson and a nephew Ricky Peterson.

 

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring staff of Ivy Manor and Preceptor Hospice for their compassionate care of Dennis and also Bernice.

 

A memorial service will be held Monday, August 26, 2024, at 4:30 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home in West Bend with Deacon Mark Jansen officiating. The family will greet visitors from 2 p.m. until 4:15 p.m. Inurnment will take place in Holy Angels Cemetery.
