August 13, 2019 – West Bend, WI  – The City of West Bend received its second Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its 2019 Operating Budget.

This award represents a remarkable achievement for the City of West Bend. In order to receive this budget award, the City of West Bend’s budget presentation had to fulfill nationally recognized guidelines in the following areas:
 A policy document

 An operations guide
 A communications device

The City of West Bend’s Operating Budget had to be rated “proficient” in all four of the above categories and in the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories to receive the award.

The prior year recommendations for improving future budgets from the GFOA reviewers also needed to be incorporated into the new 2019 Operating Budget.

There are over 1,600 participants in the Budget Awards Program. The most recent Budget Award recipients, along with their corresponding budget documents, are posted quarterly on GFOA’s website, www.gfoa.org.
