July 24, 2017 – West Bend, WI – The City of West Bend has nominated Delta Defense, LLC, for a Business Retention & Expansion award with the Wisconsin Economic Development Association.
The award is part of the Community and Economic Development Awards program and recognizes individuals, businesses, projects and organizations that are making significant contributions to Wisconsin’s economy.
Delta Defense is a growing company that provides liability insurance and other services for individuals who have conceal carry permits. Delta Defense moved into a renovated 20,000 square-foot historic building in downtown West Bend in 2013 with assistance from multiple organizations, including the City of West Bend, Economic Development Washington County (EDWC) and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC).
Just two years later, Delta Defense needed a larger facility and once again, the City of West Bend, EDWC and WEDC came together to assist Delta, which ultimately constructed a new facility on a WEDC Certified Site along Highway 45 in West Bend.
Delta continues to grow and today employs 155 people. For the past five years it has been recognized as one of America’s fastest growing companies on the Inc. 5000 list.
Delta Defense is among 18 entities nominated for the third annual Community Economic Development Awards.
There are six award categories: Business Retention & Expansion; Human Capital; Private-Public Partnership; Economic Development Initiative; and Economic Driver.
The Business Retention & Expansion award honors economic development programs that focus on retaining and growing businesses within communities and regions. Applicants have demonstrated extensive cross-community collaboration and the ability to adapt and respond quickly to unforeseen events within the last three years. This award recognizes efforts on a single project, in which a community successfully mobilized to retain and/or expand a business.
Nominees will be screened and selected by an impartial panel of WEDA members, partners and sponsors. Winners will be recognized at a ceremony on September 13, 2017, at The Edgewater Hotel in Madison.
