January 7, 2021 – West Bend, WI – This week a story was posted at WashingtonCountyInsider.com announcing there would be a Primary Election for District 2 alderman in the City of West Bend. Three people have turned in papers including incumbent Mark Allen and challengers Jeremy Hahn and Chris Thompson.
A candidate profile on Chris Thompson is below.
Chris Thompson filed nomination papers last week to officially announce his candidacy the District 2 aldermanic seat coming up for election on April 6, 2021.
“After careful thought and encouragement from a number of local residents, I decided to make a run for the Common Council seat in District 2,” Thompson said. “This past year has been a difficult one, and now more than ever, our citizens deserve level-headed vigilance and leadership from our community leaders to provide sound fiscal responsibility, and ensure public safety for our city. If elected, I will work hard for my community members in District 2 to ensure a safe, healthy, and prosperous city for many years to come.”
Thompson has been a resident of West Bend with his wife and two children for over 15 years and has lived in District 2 since 2015. He works in sales and marketing for a global manufacturer in Milwaukee.
“In my work, I am known for being level-headed, budget-conscious, and a skilled negotiator,” Thompson said. “I will apply all those skills and more toward my duties as alderman.”
Thompson said he was inspired to run for a number of reasons. “I’ve never run for any sort of political office before, but I love this city, and I care about the future of our community. All of us as citizens have a duty toward serving the public good in whatever capacity we are able; whether volunteering, voting, or serving in a public office. I believe this is my opportunity to do my part.”
Thompson plans to spend the next few weeks meeting and listening to District 2 residents to hear their concerns and ideas.
He will be facing off against two other opponents in the Spring Primary Election, held February 16. The top two vote getters from the Primary will advance to the April 6 Spring Election.
