Letter to the Editor | Keep a close eye on what children are offered in school | By Jody Geenen

January 24, 2024 – West Bend, WI – Local elections matter, especially for school board.  For example, in the West Bend School District where people used to feel their children were in good hands, families now have to keep a close eye on what their children are being offered in textbooks and reading lists which are part of the curriculum.

Letter to the Editor children

Many of the books offered, even to students as low as 5th grade, are filled with profanities such as the f-bomb and GD; explicit sex scenes and rapes, explorations of various genders, transgenderism, and preferred personal pronouns; drugs and alcohol; brutal violence and detailed suicides.

The good news is the school district now offers a description of the books on permission forms and has set limits for each grade as to how many profane words or how much sex or violence can be used.

The bad news is some of our school board are willing to break their own guidelines by approving books that exceed the limits.  When students are exposed to these offenses by our schools, is there any wonder why some are out of control, violent, suicidal, questioning their gender and sexuality?

Did you know that our nation’s founding fathers endorsed Bibles in public schools because they knew without a Christian faith and the good morals that come from it, our country would crumble?

What happened to being proud of “In God We Trust?”  Today our schools have not only kicked God out, but they’re opening the doors to His nemesis, as noted above.

If you want safe schools and a better country, vote accordingly:  West Bend/Jackson = Bill Schulz; Slinger = Bill Brewer; Hartford High School = Nolan Jackett and Heather Barrie. These candidates have been attending school board meetings and standing up for us for years as ordinary citizens. They’ve earned a proper seat.
