Child seriously injured in head-on crash in Fond du Lac Co. | By Sgt Brett Handschke

March 31, 2025 – Fond du Lac Co., WI – On Sunday, March 30, 2025, at approximately 6:15 p.m., the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a two-vehicle head-on crash on CTH G near CTH GG, located in the Township of Marshfield.

Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, along with the St. Cloud Fire Department and Mt. Calvary EMS, were dispatched to the scene.

Through investigation, it was determined the operator of the southbound vehicle on CTH G crossed the center line while attempting to negotiate a curve and struck a northbound vehicle on CTH G.

The southbound vehicle was operated by a 26-year-old female from Illinois, with her 4-year-old child as a backseat passenger. The child suffered a significant head injury and was later transported to Children’s Hospital of Milwaukee for further care. The operator suffered minor injuries and was treated at St. Agnes Hospital.

The northbound vehicle was operated by a 51-year-old man from St. Cloud, WI, and a 50-year-old woman from St. Cloud, WI, was a passenger. Both occupants of this vehicle were treated for minor injuries at St. Agnes Hospital.

The 26-year-old female from Illinois was issued citations for operating a vehicle left of center causing injury and for operating a motor vehicle with a child aged 4-8 years old not in a proper restraint seat.

CTH G was shut down for approximately two and a half hours to allow for emergency vehicles to respond. Assisting agencies included the St. Cloud Fire Department, St. Cloud First Responders, Mt. Calvary EMS, Mt. Calvary Fire Department, and a City of Fond du Lac Ambulance.

The crash remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
